Day 10: Walking with the Holy One

Day 10: Walking with the Holy One

Scripture Focus:
"After he begot Metushelach, Chanoch walked with the Creator-God 300 years, and had sons and daughters. And Chanoch walked with the Creator-God; and he was not, for Elohim took him."
—Genesis 5:22, 24

A Call to Walk with the King

Chanoch is twice described as walking with the Creator-God.

Later in the Torah, we learn that Noach did the same.

And the result?

Both men transcended the limitations of their day—cultural, social, financial, and religious—and touched the very heart of the King.

Selah.

What Does It Mean to Walk with the Holy One?

We know how humans walk.
But how does an Omnipresent, Spiritual Being walk?

It is a mystery—but a real one.

  • He walked in the Garden in the cool of the day.
  • He walked with Chanoch.
  • He walked with Noach.
  • And He still wants to walk with us today.

Whatever "walking with the Holy One" may look like,
at the very least, it means having an interactive relationship with Him.

A relationship that resembles the way two people walk together
in rhythm, in conversation, and in companionship.

As the prophet Amos asked:
"Can two walk together unless they are intimate?" (Hebrew: noadu)

A Heart Longing to Walk with the King

Oh, to be the intimate friend of the Creator-God!

Oh, to walk with You, Great King!

Oh, to synchronize with Your every halt and advance.

Oh, to stay so close that I always feel the delicate movement of Your shadow,
always hear the rhythm of Your footsteps.

Oh, to match my stride with Yours,
to be wherever You go,
to learn from You as an apprentice learns from his Master.

Oh, to tune my heart to hear Your Voice,
and to be fully aware of Your response to mine!

Oh, to have a heart that beats in rhythm with Your breath.

Oh, to have a faith that:

  • Moves when You move
  • Pauses when You pause
  • Rejoices when You rejoice
  • Weeps when You weep

Prayer for the Journey

Awaken the Awestruck Heart in me!

Awaken my eyes to see beauty,
my ears to hear poetry,
my mouth to declare anthems of praise.

Let me exalt Your Goodness, Your Wisdom, and Your Majesty.

Awestruck Heart Challenge #10

Adjust the pace, direction, rhythm, and focus of your life
to align with His pace, His direction, His rhythm, and His focus.

Awestruck Heart Exercise #10

  1. Read: 2 Samuel 15:14-21 and 1 Chronicles 12:1-18

  2. Reflect:

    • Think of times when you have walked:
      • In a different direction than the Holy One.
      • At a different pace than He was leading.
      • To a different rhythm than His will.
      • In pursuit of a different focus than He had for you.
    • How did He show you how far you had wandered?
  3. Imagine:

    • Picture yourself going for a walk in a park with a close friend.
    • How would you interact as you walked together?
    • List some actions you would naturally do together or in response to each other.
  4. Read & Meditate: Micah 6:6-8

  5. Tell the King:

I SO DESIRE TO KNOW YOU BETTER, MY KING!

I LONG TO WALK, CONVERSE, AND LAUGH WITH YOU.

I NEED TO SENSE YOUR RHYTHM, YOUR CADENCE,
YOUR DIRECTION, AND YOUR MOVEMENT RIGHT HERE IN MY WORLD.

TEACH ME TO BE MORE SENSITIVE TO THE SOUND OF YOU WALKING IN MY LIFE.

OH KING, COME INTO MY FIELD,
AND WALK WITH ME—THIS DAY AND FOREVER!

Final Reflection

Walking with the Holy One is not about rushing ahead.

It is not about dragging behind.

It is about walking in step with Him,
listening,
learning,
moving as He moves.

Today, will you walk with Him?
