Do You Know the True Messiah?
A few weeks ago, I had a conversation with a Jewish man who asked me a simple yet profound question: “Do you believe Isaiah 53 speaks of the Messiah?” Without hesitation, I answered, “Yes!” knowing full well that hidden within this chapter is the phrase “Yahusha Shmi”—which means “Yahusha is My Name.”
Isaiah 53: The Suffering Servant
“Who has believed our report? And to whom was the arm of יהוה revealed?
For He grew up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground.
He has no form or splendor that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should desire Him—
Despised and rejected by men, a man of pains and knowing sickness.
And as one from whom the face is hidden, being despised, and we did not consider Him.
Truly, He has borne our sicknesses and carried our pains.
Yet we reckoned Him smitten, stricken by Elohim, and afflicted.
But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our crookedness.
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed…”
(Isaiah 53:1-5, ISR)
We continued our discussion, and before parting ways, we exchanged email addresses. Later, I sent him a message explaining a crucial distinction:
The Messiah of Isaiah 53—the true, biblical Messiah—is not the same as the “Jesus” taught by most of “churchianity.” The mainstream version fails the Deuteronomy 13 test—a test most Christians have never even heard of.
The Deuteronomy 13 Test: Does Your Messiah Pass?
The true Messiah:
✅ Would never look like Cesare Borgia
✅ Would never speak against Torah or claim it was abolished
✅ Would never condone the worship of Yah on pagan “holidays” like Christmas and Easter
✅ Would never declare unclean meat to be clean
Yet, these are all things “churchianity” teaches about their version of “Jesus.” The sad truth is, the figure that most people worship as Messiah is not the true Messiah but a counterfeit—one who does not align with the very Scriptures that prophesied His coming.
When I mentioned the Cesare Borgia deception, my new acquaintance replied:
“I’ve heard of that, but for me, it’s a no never mind, because the Lord is who He is, not who we say He is or what He looks like. Humans need something definitive and reliable to put their faith into.”
I was tempted to respond, “Humans think they need an image of what Yah looks like, but they don’t. In fact, this false idea is what has led God’s people to idolatry time and time again.”
Breaking the Second Commandment
Most Christians claim to obey the Ten Commandments—but do they really?
• Exodus 20:3 – “You shall have no other gods before Me.”
• Yet, the false Jesus of churchianity is worshiped before the true Yah.
• Exodus 20:4 – “You shall not make for yourself an idol, nor any image of anything in the heavens above, the earth beneath, or the waters under the earth.”
Yet, millions have accepted and venerated a false image of Messiah, an image rooted in deception.
But Yah is Spirit, and those who truly love Him worship Him in Spirit and Truth (John 4:24). They don’t need a picture to follow Him.
A Test of True Love
Imagine you’ve been corresponding with someone by letter for months. You’ve talked about everything—your beliefs, hopes, and dreams. You’re convinced you truly know this person, even though you’ve never seen their face.
Then, the day comes to finally meet, but there’s a twist—he convinces a friend to pretend to be him. Two men stand before you, both claiming to be the one you love.
How will you know the real one? By his looks? Or by his words, his character, and the things he has told you?
This is exactly the test we face with the Messiah. If we truly know Him, we will recognize Him by His words, His teachings, and His alignment with Torah.
Most of Israel failed this test.
Choosing the Wrong Messiah
Throughout history, people have chosen the counterfeit over the true Elohim:
- The Golden Calf at Mount Sinai
Israel had just agreed three times to follow Yah’s ways. But when it came time to meet Him, they created a counterfeit god and called it Yah.
“This is your mighty one, O Yisra’ěl, that brought you out of the land of Mitsrayim!” (Exodus 32:4)
Yah’s response? “I have seen this people, and see, it is a stiff-necked people!” (Exodus 32:9)
• Solomon’s Betrayal
- Yah appeared to Solomon three times (1 Kings 9:2, 1 Kings 11:9, 2 Chronicles 1:7). Yet Solomon still turned to false gods and was ultimately rejected.
• Northern Israel’s Apostasy
The ten tribes rejected Yah and worshiped the golden calves at Bethel and Dan (2 Kings 10:29).
This idolatry was so grievous that Yah divorced them and scattered them for 2,730 years. This separation caused the forgetfulness if the perfect law.
Now, in 2009/2010, Northern Israel is being awakened for a final chance to reject the counterfeit and choose the true Messiah. This reawakening is called the fullness of the gentiles.
Will We Choose Right This Time?
The sad reality is that most of “churchianity” has not chosen the true Messiah. They follow the pretender—a lawless one who does away with Yah’s Torah and replaces it with man-made traditions.
Yah is calling His people to come out of deception and seek the Messiah who is righteous, Torah-observant, and true to His Father’s commands.
Yah, help us to choose rightly this time.
