A Call to Honest Reflection
Chava stood before One who was no stranger to her.
She did not have to wonder if she would find favor in His eyes—she had been His joy and delight since the moment He awakened her to life in His embrace.
The Voice asking her, “Mah zot asit?”, was a voice she knew well.
It was not the voice of an accuser.
It was not condemnation—but a call to acknowledge reality.
So who was Chava’s accuser?
It was Adam—her beloved companion, her soul mate.
Without even being asked, he blurted out her name—humiliating her.
He did not call her “bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh”, as he once had.
Instead, he reduced her to “the woman You gave me.”
The sting of betrayal must have been unbearable.
A Moment of Regret
Chava had not sought evil—but she had not been prepared for the challenge before her.
- She had not prioritized the words and ways of the Holy One.
- She did not value her relationship with Him above fleeting pleasure.
- She did not flee temptation when she had the chance.
- She traded innocence for the illusion of knowledge and power.
And in doing so… she lost everything.
Have You Done the Same?
Old Friend, I suspect that somewhere along your journey, you have done the same.
And that is why your heart is no longer awestruck.
But even though Chava was guilty, the pain of Adam’s betrayal remained.
Perhaps that is why she responded as she did.
Across the ages, the Awestruck Heart cries out:
"Humble yourself, Chava! Come clean! Acknowledge everything!"
"Turn back to the One who loves you! Make T’shuvah!"
But she did not.
She stood defiant.
How about you, Beloved?
Prayer for the Journey
O Great King,
I have unclean hands and lips, and I am undone.
Forgive me… even as I forgive all my betrayers.
Awestruck Heart Challenges #6
- Assess what you have done with the time, energy, gifts, and creativity given to you.
- How does it compare to what the King has called you to do?
- Lay the groundwork for T’shuvah—turning back to the Holy One’s:
- Words
- Ways
- Plans
- Purposes
- Destiny
- And forgiving those who have deceived, betrayed, or disillusioned you.
Awestruck Heart Exercise #6
-
Read: Genesis 35:1-4
-
Ask the King to reveal:
- The names and faces of anyone you feel has deceived or betrayed you.
- Anyone with whom you have been disillusioned.
-
Read & Meditate: Acts 7:59-60
-
Close Your Eyes. Tell the King:
I HAVE SINNED AGAINST YOU.
I HAVE SINNED AGAINST YOU WITH MY HEARING.
I HAVE SINNED AGAINST YOU WITH MY SIGHT.
I HAVE SINNED AGAINST YOU WITH MY WORDS.
I HAVE SINNED AGAINST YOU WITH MY THOUGHTS AND ATTITUDES.
I HAVE SINNED AGAINST YOU WITH MY HEART.FORGIVE ME, MY KING!
TAKE A COAL FROM THE ALTAR AND CLEANSE MY EARS, MY EYES, MY MOUTH, MY MIND, AND MY HEART!
AND MAY THOSE WHO I SEE AS DECEIVERS AND BETRAYERS KNOW THE WONDER OF YOUR MERCY AND FAVOR THIS VERY DAY.
PLEASE DO NOT LAY ANY SINS THEY HAVE COMMITTED AGAINST ME TO THEIR CHARGE!
Final Reflection
True repentance requires honesty, humility, and surrender.
Will you stand defiant like Chava?
Or will you turn back to the One who loves you?
The King is waiting.
