Day 15: The Grand Plan of Redemption

Day 15: The Grand Plan of Redemption

Scripture Focus:
"And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth will be blessed—because Avraham sh’ma-ed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws."
—Genesis 26:4-5

A Call to Sh’ma His Voice

The Holy One did not randomly choose Avram and Sarai.

He was not simply looking for a couple to bless.

He was not performing acts of kindness for a man and his descendants just because He could.

He had a far greater plan.

The Mission: Fix Creation

The Holy One set out to restore what was broken.

He chose to stun the principalities and powers
by redeeming creation through the very species that had broken it.

Step 1: Win Back the Hearts of a Remnant

The first step?
To win back a substantial remnant of the human race.

That is where Avram came in.

Step 2: Train People to Love His Voice

Once their hearts were turned back, they had to be trained:

  • To love His Voice so much
  • That they would rush to obey
  • Whether they understood it or not
  • Whether they believed it would benefit them or not

Step 3: Pure, Passionate, Selfless Love

And what’s more?

Their obedience could not be about fear or personal gain.

It had to come from passionate, extravagant, selfless love.

The principalities and powers thought that would be impossible.

  • Man, they believed, would never truly love and trust the Holy One.
  • The Serpent had poisoned them too deeply.
  • They would never obey without self-interest.

But the Holy One knew differently.

He believed He could win hearts
and enlist man in His Grand Plan of Redemption.

Avram: The Test Case

Avram was the test case.

If the Holy One could so captivate Avram’s heart…
If Avram would count all things as loss for the sake of knowing Him…
Then others could follow.

And of course—
The plan worked.

  • At the whisper of His Voice, Avram left everything behind.
  • He cut his own flesh as a sign of covenant.
  • He placed his only son on an altar and trusted the Holy One.

Now, all eyes are on us.

What say you?

Prayer for the Journey

O Great King!
I, like Avram, am totally infatuated with the sound of Your Voice.

Teach me Your ways.
Show me Your Glory.

Give me understanding, and I will keep Your Torah—
I will observe it with my whole heart.

Awestruck Heart Challenge #15

Surrender wholeheartedly to the wooing and romancing of the Holy One.

Joyfully embark upon the grand challenge:

  • Sh’ma-ing His Beautiful Voice
  • Embracing His Infinitely Wise Commandments

Awestruck Heart Exercise #15

  1. Read:

    • Psalm 119:32-35, 44-48, 72-74, 97-105
  2. Reflect:

    • What is the value of the Holy One’s Counsel and Instructions?
    • How do they bring redemptive impact to creation?
  3. Consider:

    • What was the purpose of the Written Commandments?
    • Why did the Holy One choose to give them to us?
  4. Read & Meditate:

    • Revelation 12:17
    • Revelation 14:12-13
  5. Examine:

    • Do you believe the Holy One is calling you to increase or change your time in His Word?
    • A new season is beginning with the High Holidays.
    • After this season of Elul, how will you increase your engagement with His Word?
  6. Tell the King:

CREATOR AND GREAT KING OF THE UNIVERSE!

I WANT TO BE FIRMLY GROUNDED IN BOTH
    THE COMMANDMENTS YOU HAVE GIVEN
    AND THE TESTIMONY OF YAHUSHA.

I WANT TO BE FOUND FAITHFUL TO BOTH.

SO SPEAK, HOLY ONE, AND YOUR SERVANT WILL SH’MA!

AND OPEN UP MY EYES THAT I MAY SEE
WONDROUS THINGS—BOTH IN YOUR FACE AND IN TORAH!

Final Reflection

The Holy One’s Plan was never just about Avraham.

It was about winning hearts.

It was about training a people to love His Voice more than their own reasoning.

Now, He is calling you.

Will your heart respond?

Will you sh’ma His Voice?
