Day 2: Where Are You?
A Call to Reflection
The earth moves in rhythms, pre-ordained by the Creator—Scripture calls them times and seasons.
Every year at this time, as the long, hot days of summer weigh on the Northern Hemisphere and winter's chill settles over the Southern Hemisphere, something stirs in the human soul.
Every person feels it. You feel it. So do I.
But the question is not whether we feel it—the question is how we will respond.
Deep within, there is a gnawing awareness that before the seasons change, we need to remember something we have forgotten. There is an urgency—a pull to prepare for something significant that we know we must experience in fullness.
We sense that:
- There are things left undone—things we must go back and complete.
- There are things done half-heartedly—things that need to be corrected.
- There are things done wrongly—things that must be made right.
- Our accounts and affairs—spiritual, relational, and personal—need to be put in order.
Why do we feel this way?
Because our Creator is calling us.
Like Adam, we hear the sound of His footsteps in the Garden. He is calling our name.
The appointed time is near.
He is coming to the place He left us in charge of—to visit, to walk with us, to examine the fruit of our labor. He comes to see what we have done with the breath of life and the capacity for fruitfulness that He entrusted to us.
If you close your eyes and listen with your heart, you will hear Him softly whisper:
"Ayeika?" – "Where are you?"
This is what we have forgotten. This is what we must prepare for.
An encounter with the Creator of Heaven and Earth is approaching. We must stand before Him and give an account.
The King has left His royal chambers.
He has taken off His royal garments.
He has put on traveling clothes.
And He is coming.
Prayer for the Journey
Even so, Great King, come.
May I, my household, and all Your servants in the fields of this humble village
be found faithful in the day of Your visitation.
Awestruck Heart Challenge #2
Accurately assess where you are in your life
in relation to where you are supposed to be.
Awestruck Heart Exercise #2
- Read: 1 Kings 19:1-18
- Reflect: Think back to your first encounter with the Great King.
- What was He calling you to be?
- What was He calling you to do with your life?
- Read & Meditate: Jonah 1:1-12
- Ask the King:
- When did I start to see things through my own self-interest instead of Your divine plan?
- Where did I dethrone You and place my own ideas of right and wrong, good and evil, moral and immoral, pleasant and unpleasant, fair and unfair?
- How can I bring my life back into alignment with Your perfect plan and Your perfect timing?
Final Reflection
Pause today and truly examine your path.
Where are you?
Is your life aligned with the One who called you?
He is coming. Will He find you faithful?
