Day 13: Walk Before My Face
A Call to Walk in the Light of His Gaze
Avram has been walking with the Holy One for nearly a quarter of a century.
Can you believe it has been 24 years since he first heard that Glorious Voice?
- Back then, he was 75 years old.
- Now, he is nearing 100.
- And still… the promise has not yet been fulfilled.
The Journey So Far
Avram and Sarai have been constantly moving:
- From Charan to Shechem
- From Shechem to Egypt
- From Egypt to Beit-El
- From Beit-El to Hebron
- From Hebron to Syria and back again
Some of the journey has been pleasant,
but there have also been major tests, trials, and crises.
Many faces have changed.
- Sarai is still by his side.
- Elazar, his trusted servant, remains.
- But Lot? Gone.
- His entire extended family? Gone.
- And though he has a son through Hagar,
that experiment did not bring peace to his home.
Doubt Creeping In
24 years have passed, and Avram is still not a great nation.
- Those who blessed him don’t seem particularly blessed.
- Those who cursed him don’t seem particularly cursed.
- He doesn’t feel like a blessing to anyone—much less all nations.
But hold on, Avram and Sarai.
The most dramatic, destiny-shaping moments are just around the corner.
Walk Before His Face
The King calls:
"Walk before My Face."
- Open up every area of your life to His intimate, piercing gaze.
- Live your life before Him as your Audience of One.
When you do,
the light of His gaze will cause the living seeds of His promises
to spring to life in their season.
Prayer for the Journey
Great King,
Let the Light of Your Face shine
into every thought and intent of my heart.
Purify me.
Make me whole from the inside out.
Awestruck Heart Challenge #13
Consciously choose to invite the Intimate Gaze of the King into every part of your life.
This means:
- Surrendering your so-called "right to privacy"
- Exposing every hidden area of selfishness, worldliness, and sin
- Allowing His constant scrutiny and counsel
No more self-deception.
Awestruck Heart Exercise #13
-
Read: Psalm 33:8-22 and Jeremiah 23:23-24
-
Consider:
- Most people hide certain areas of life from themselves and from God.
- These include:
- What they fear
- What they hate
- Their desire for approval from others
- What they crave or lust after
- What they believe will make them feel important
- Who or what they secretly blame for their pain and disappointments
-
Read & Meditate: Psalm 139
-
Tell the King:
WISE AND LOVING KING,
I INVITE YOU TO INSPECT MY HEART AND MIND.
GIVE ME YOUR COUNSEL REGARDING EVERYTHING—
AND EVERYONE—I FEAR AND HATE.SHOW ME EVERYONE FROM WHOM I SECRETLY CRAVE APPROVAL.
REVEAL TO ME WHAT AREAS OF APPETITE, HUMAN URGE,
AND SENSUALITY I HAVE NOT COMPLETELY SURRENDERED TO YOUR WILL.EXPOSE THE DECEPTION IN MY HEART ABOUT WHAT "THE GOOD LIFE" REALLY MEANS.
SHOW ME EVERY OPINION, ATTITUDE, AND OFFENSE
THAT STANDS BETWEEN YOU AND ME.
Final Reflection
There are no secrets before the King.
There is no darkness hidden from His Light.
Are you willing to let Him search your heart?
Will you walk before His Face—fully known and fully surrendered?
